Currently Ono-ha Ittō ryū is located in Tokyo, Japan and is led by Sasamori Takemi (16th generation headmaster and successor to the school)
Oral tradition indicates that Ittosai (founder of Ittō ryū) made his student Tadaaki fight a serious duel with another student, Zenki, in order to establish a successor to the style.
